A goblin pin-up girl from WoW…

Community. It can make a decent game feel like a horrid piece of rotting meat left out in the sun. It can also make a subpar game an enjoyable journey with the right mix of personalities. Either way, community means a lot to the average MMO player whether they realize it or not. I find myself despising the act of logging in because those around me, friend or foe alike, enrage my very core.

Hirelings, henchmen, and soldiers can all tag along in your MMO adventures. These NPCs aren’t companions to a certain class, they’re an additional kind of NPC that fights for the player. They are like friends you pay for, and they’re not for everyone. For solo players and small groups, these brainless buddies can be just the extra avatar you need for an otherwise impossible adventure.
