So, I’ve been playing the original Guild Wars for nostalgia purposes while I wait on SWTOR 1.3, and so I can brush up on the storyline before GW2. Just now, I re-stumbled onto this armor set — the early-game Charr Hide armor. I remember, back in the day, I used to get so excited about this armor, because it looks pretty awesome and made me feel like YEAH BAD ASS CHARR SLAYER YEAH.
Only, when GW1 first came out, it was before they established Charr as a people. Back then, I just thought they were generic feral psuedo-animals, because that’s how the game portrays them except in a few cases. Nbd. Now that I’ve played GW2 and seen that Charr are a sentient people with their own culture and society and history, this armor suddenly becomes… very disturbing. You’re going around wearing the skin of what used to be a person, however bestial — and then attacking other Charr while wearing their dead brother. Jesus christ.
Amazing how perspective can change one’s view of things. Basically GW1 has a very human-skewed portrayal of Charr that’s not accurate at all. That’s some damn good storytelling, even if I’m not sure it was intentional. Thankfully this armor will be hidden under a costume, or I’d have to headcanon this dude as a rampaging psychopath.
that’s messed up right there

lvl666blastoise asked: How long did it take to get 10/50? I've been toying with the idea of trying but I'd be a COMPLETE noob and I"m not sure if worth. Lol.
I spent 40 hours playing to get 10/50…
However, 3 of those points wouldn’t have been as easy and quick if I hadn’t played GW briefly when it first came out. I had several characters made and each celebrated 4-5 birthdays which meant 4-5 miniatures each. I got the 3 HoM points just for having 20 of those bastards (1 point for the first, 2 points for 20 minis total).
So getting 7 HoM points wouldn’t be too difficult, but it would take ~20-30 hours for a fresh player (e.g. a player with no money).
The rest of this is how I managed to squeeze out the remaining points if you’re interested:
Having all the campaigns (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North) will immediately get you M.O.X., a hero that doesn’t need to be upgraded in order to be dedicated at the HoM. You can instantly take him to the HoM is for 1 point. This will require that you be level 10.

On spears…
I’m about halfway through Nightfall and now I’m super sad Elona’s not a setting in Guild Wars 2.
I’ve never played GW seriously until now, and I’ve got to say, it’s one of the better MMOs I’ve experienced. I originally played Prophecies, but I didn’t care for the game without heroes. I understand and I’m okay with not having heroes in GW2, but my husband can’t stand the thought of losing one thing Nightfall has that GW2 won’t…
Spears.
i have 12 days remaining on swtor.
what do i play all night?
Guild Wars.
More Guild Wars 2 concept art.
These huge prints of concept art for our game recently went up all around our office. The charr piece in particular is gigantic!
Guild Wars 2 could not come quick enough. The game has been in development for years, and, in the wake of playable demos, excitement surrounding the game is high. Players anticipating the title are please with any information. Luckily, Game Designer Jon Peters is prepared to update us.
Lion’s Arch in Guild Wars 2.
After seeing quite a bit from Gamescom and reading up on GW2, I’m officially interested. I wasn’t really a fan of the first one and I’m not a fan of NCSoft; however, this game has so many things going for it.
I was pretty apathetic toward the title until now. At this point, I’m scared of being disappointed. That’s a good thing.
MMO Journal Day 5
It was more Champions Online today, but no Vindictus. For some reason, Vindictus doesn’t want me logging on. Since the Nexon sites have been updated, I have a lot of trouble doing anything with Vindictus. I submitted a ticket, but… you know how that goes…
