Top 5 features lost when ‘City of Heroes’ shut down

Players are still wounded by the closure of “City of Heroes,” and even though it’s a good idea to move on, there is no harm in looking back at the features missed most from its departure. There are a lot of things to miss about the game; however, these are five things I miss the most.

Places to go and people to see.

Just a few screens from City of Heroes - I miss this game everyday.

This ensaddens me.

‘City of Heroes’ shutting down today

Today, at 11:59 p.m. PST, “City of Heroes” servers will be shutting down permanently. The closure was announced in the end of August and was met with plenty of concern. Players desperately tried to save “City of Heroes,” but as of today, the game will sunset without a new team picking it up.

My lion companion pet meets my lioness mastermind pet…  I’m such a girl.

City of Heroes…
Why do you let NPCs have things I can’t wear!?
EDIT: The garters (which I am referencing) are absolutely not available to purchase in the Carnival of Light pack.
I have the belt and the shoes, of course!  It’s the leggings people, the leggings!

Paragon Wiki for more.  The one-only pet is a dire wolf… I’m thinking a bear would have been better.  Perhaps this could have been Wolf Mastery with the two-only as canines instead of cats.  Then, later, we could get a Feline Mastery…  A cat lover can dream, but I’m okay with this as it because… ANIMALS.

By now most gamers realize that going free isn’t a sign of a struggling game. A previously pay-to-play MMO that goes free-to-play often sees a major increase in revenue, an increase in active users, and much more. Perfectly healthy games with active and substantial populations go free to see those increases even if the title doesn’t “need” the infusion. Let City of Heroes be a perfect example of that ideal.

MMO Journal Entry 24

My husband wanted to try a new MMO.  After playing plenty of free CoH and the mediocre RIFT, he asked if we could play something else.  I said, “Okay, but what?”  After returning to a few free MMOs that didn’t do it for us, we got free trials to Aion
