Trion Worlds introduces the free-to-play Loyalty program for ‘RIFT’

In June, “RIFT” will go free-to-play with an optional subscription. The transition is shaping up to be a smooth one for returning players, a valuable one for a free player, and a rewarding one for a subscriber. Today, a Trion Worlds developer outlined the Loyalty program; something from which all those players can benefit.

‘RIFT’ going free-to-play in June

Like many games before it, “RIFT” will still offer an optional subscription that rewards the subscribing player with extra benefits; however, the game will not require it. Additionally, players can buy vanity items and boosts in an in-game store.

‘RIFT’ client on sale for Valentine’s Day (Photos)

Today, “RIFT” bundled alongside its first expansion, “Storm Legion” is on sale for 25 percent off. Normally $49.99, the game and its expansion are just $36.99 for a limited time. That price includes one month free for new players.

I miss this game, but I hate the event system in it. I hate that some of them are seemingly one-time only. I hate that I have tons of currency left over from events that I can’t spend etc. It’s a stupid reason not to play, but there it is.

I look at the MMO and MMORPG tags a lot. I’ve no problem with RIFT but, oh my god, the achievement spam it creates is insane.

I don’t mind looking at pictures of your achievements, I really don’t, but I hate that you can’t see the images in their full resolution. You click an image and it just goes to the game’s website.

Is there a way to change that? I feel like there was, but I can’t get my RiftConnect crap to work so… yeah.
